Quick ranking: where to look first
Costa Brava: Lloret, Roses, L'Estartit, Begur and Palamós
Great for cliffs, coves and summer towns. The north fits Cap de Creus; the centre Illes Medes, Begur and Palamós; the south a lively tourist vibe.
Costa Blanca: Benidorm, Alicante, Jávea, Denia and Torrevieja
One of the most consistent areas for volume and variety. Benidorm and Alicante have high demand; Jávea, Denia and Calpe are better for rocky coast; Torrevieja works well for families.
Canary Islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
It wins on the calendar. Tenerife and Gran Canaria have the most offer; Lanzarote and Fuerteventura bring volcanic scenery and an open-coast feel.
Best area for your plan
Look for controlled water, a clear instructor and short 20-30 minute outings.
Ideal if you prioritise scenery, clear water and a photogenic route.
The best tourist infrastructure to combine with food, a beach club or nightlife.
If you travel outside July-August, look first at Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote or Málaga.
Good destinations for cliffs, natural parks and less built-up coast.
More local competition means it's easier to compare durations.
Comparison by destination
Balearics
The Balearics are the strong bet for a full holiday experience. In Ibiza look at San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa; in Mallorca, Palma, Alcúdia and Cala d'Or; in Menorca, Fornells and Ciutadella.
Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is excellent for scenery. For Cap de Creus, compare Roses and Empuriabrava. For Illes Medes or the central coast, look at L'Estartit, Begur and Palamós.
Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca has plenty of variety: Benidorm for volume, Alicante for city and beach, Jávea for coves and Torrevieja for family tourism.
Canary Islands
The Canary Islands win on the calendar. In Tenerife the highlights are Costa Adeje, Puerto Colón and Los Cristianos; in Gran Canaria, Puerto Rico, Taurito, Mogán and Anfi; in Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca.
Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical
The Costa del Sol works very well for groups: Marbella, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Estepona, Torrox and Nerja. For the Granada coast, look at Costa Tropical, Almuñécar and La Herradura.
Tips before you book
- Check whether the price is per jet ski or per person. Many skis take two people, and that changes the real cost.
- Ask about fuel, insurance and photos. Some companies include them; others charge separately.
- No license doesn't mean free rein. You usually ride in a circuit, guided route or controlled area.
- Book ahead in August. In the Balearics, Costa Brava, Costa Blanca and Canary Islands the best slots fill up fast.
- If the sea is rough, the instructor decides. A good operator postpones or changes the route if it isn't safe.
